Venetian Lagoon Excursion

Agenda

Directions from the Alveri Hotel

Directions from the University

Saturday 15 November

8:45  All participants must gather at 8:45 at Piazzale Roma, the Venice terminal bus stop.

Information regarding which ticket to buy and which bus to take from your hotel to reach

this meeting point can be requested at the Symposium information desk during the

Symposium.

Our group will collectively take “The People Mover” from Piazalle Roma to the Tronchettoport terminal where we will embark on our adventure.

9:15  We depart on our cruise, sailing along the Giudecca Canal of old Venice, with spectacular views of historical buildings, including Saint Mark's Basilica. We will then pass in front of the inlet of Saint Nicoletto, one of the three connections between the Adriatic Sea and the lagoon.

The morning will be spent sailing through the Northern Lagoon, routed through the areas of the greatest naturalistic value.

12:30  We will stop for lunch at the restaurant “Il Trono di Attila” on the island of Torcello. In the afternoon we will stop on the island of Burano, also in the Northern lagoon, where we will have two hours of free time to visit the island which is famous for its colourful houses.

16:30  We need to all be back at the boat to return to Venice, disembarking at Tronchetto at around 17:30.

People are then free to explore Venice in the evening or return directly to Mestre and their hotels as they wish.
